Wedding celebrations – time to celebrate!
A wedding is a day brimming with laughter and celebration but its as the day moves to evening and everyone is fed and watered, things get into full swing! Whether they’re before or after the wedding breakfast, the speeches are always a highlight of the day – a perfect mix of emotion, nostalgia and belly laughs. And occasionally a little bit of the toe-curling, head in hands kind of embarrassment that only the Best Man’s speech can deliver!
I love photographing the speeches, not only capturing the reactions of the bride and groom but also the expressions of the guests – it’s so much fun! There’s always heaps of laughter but also some some beautifully subtle moments too. Part of my job is anticipating what’s going to happen next and as such I watch for those wonderful little exchanges and gestures during and straight after the speeches.
Its not often that all you favourite people in the world will be all together under one roof and its always a pleasure for me to record those great moments. The formality of the ceremony is over and its simply time for everyone to enjoy themselves. With a documentary approach I love photographing the wedding celebrations. Toasts, fizz, cake cutting, first dances, bouquet throwing, shape throwing – there’s always so much going on.
As everyone says, your wedding day passes by so quickly and its so lovely to be able to look back at your wedding photographs and relive those great times. By recording the little moments as well as the big moments I can capture the atmosphere and essence of the best party of your lives.
