After the formality of the ceremony and a whirlwind of congratulatory hugs from family and friends (and once you’ve had a chance to have a sip of something fizzy) we’ll take a few moments out to get some beautiful couples portraits of the two of you. Short and sweet, the couples portraits will take around 15 or 20 minutes. I tend to think that ‘portraits’ aren’t quite the right word for it. To me ‘portrait’ is something a bit still, a bit formal. Instead I like to make sure they’re relaxed, informal and unposed. Rather than posing for the camera, you’ll go for a wander and I’ll capture your connection, joy and happiness at being just married.
I often hear back from my couples that they enjoyed it much more than they thought they would because they loved spending a few precious moments together, away from the rest of the congregation. When I’m editing I love seeing the range of emotions you share in these few moments together, lovely genuine moments where you’re happiness just sings as you go ‘eeek we’ve just got married’!
On the day, I’ll be scouting out some beautiful backdrops for your couples photographs which showcase the essence of your venue, the time of year and whats in bloom. We’ll work with the light to really make your photographs sing. Images from your couples portraits are likely to be some of the ones that will be on your wall or in a frame on the mantelpiece in years to come and I love how this time alone captures your just married happiness.
